Damrei Mountains (means 'Elephant Mountains') are a range of mountain in the Kravanh or Cardamom Mountains Complex, which are located to the southwest of Cambodia. Its highest peak is Phnom Bokor that reaches to the height of 1,081 meters (about 3,547 feet) compared to the sea level. Up to 1975, Damrei Mountains were the center that grew pepper of Cambodia.

After up and down times during civil war and other period, this industry decreased its position in the late of 1990s. The highlight is Bokor Mountain with its Phnom Bokor National Park occupying for most of the upper areas and peaks of the Damrei Mountains. There are many kinds of plants including rare orchids and imposing waterfalls during the rainy season in this park. This is an ecological tourist attraction, also a top discovering destination of Cambodia. With its peak of 1000 meter compared to the sea level, stunning views over Cambodians countryside are guaranteed.

In 1917, for its wild beauty and fresh air of Bokor, French colonial officers built a convalescence town where they spent holidays after hard-working days in Phnom Penh. It includes a collection of buildings like a casino, a hotel, a royal residence and a church.Today, these architectures still remains integrally and becomes an exciting cultural tourist destination. Nearby there is Cambodian army outpost which doubles as a youth hostel for lack of other accommodation.

It is said that the mountains used to be an immense sea. Throughout many geological changes, it turned out to be the gorgeous Damrei Mountains today. Rocks with odd shapes distribute on the top of the mountains. Also, Wat Sampov Pram pagoda and 500 Buddhas pagoda are holy places for pilgrimage.

As you present here, you will listen to the love story of the princess Nagani and the prince Preah Thong, known as Khmer ancestors, and the mystery of the five boat-shaped stone. Yeay Mao statue, sacred character of the Khmer belief, was built in the middle of the mountains, becomes spiritual destination for both tourists and the locals.
