Situated 18km from Sihanoukvillein south-east Cambodia, Ream National Park is a great place to view Cambodia's wildlife and one of Sihanoukville's top sightseeing spots. It was established in 1993 when the Cambodian government began to take action to protect this threatened area. It is one of the seven national parks of Cambodia and covers 210 square km, including 150 square km of land and 60 square km of marine habitats. Located on the outskirts, Ream National Park is nearly a heaven for nature lovers. Those coming here can be taken away from the crowded life of the town and immerse themselves into the natural beauty, enjoy the fresh atmosphere and the wildlife here.

The national park contains sandy beaches, mangrove forests, tropical jungles and over 150 species of bird and is well noted for its monkey population, which make it a favourite among locals. The park is also home for several endangered birds, including the Brahminy kite, grey-headed fish eagle and white-bellied sea eagle, or ones feeding on the mudflats as lesser adjutant, milky stork, painted stork and kingfishers, which are regularly spotted on the river trips. Uninhabited Koh Sess island is located at the southeastern end of the park. The park also includes the list of mammals as deer, wild pig and fishing cats.

Ream National Park offers numerous possibilities for nature lovers. The tourists can take part in many activities as multi-day trip exploring the islands, water skiing, jet skies, countryside tours to little fishing villages and secluded beaches, walking tours of the mountain, safari tours of the smaller mammals and birds and waterfalls. Wat Ream, a Buddhist temple, is also an exciting destination. Or a boat trips down the Prek Toeuk Sap River gives the option of visiting four islands: Koh Thmei, Koh Ses, Koh Sam Pouch, and Koh Kchang, where you find beautiful beaches, fishing villages and the opportunity to snorkel and experience the diverse marine life; the park occupies a large amount of marine life, so this is well worth the experience.
