Transportation in Cambodia

Wars and fights used to severely damage Cambodia's transportation system. However, it was reconstructed in peacetime more modern and convenient. Railways, highways, waterways, airports were upgraded to support country socio-economic development in which tourists was actively facilitated.

There is a variety means of transport in Cambodia, each of them has it own attract and joy.

Car

Car is the most popular means of transport when travelling by road way. Most of cars in Cambodia are clean and equipped with air-conditioner which will make tourists feel comfortable. Buses from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Pursat, etc are always available. Renting a car to travel around Phnom Penh or Siem Reap is a great choice. If you are not sure about the way, you can rent car with drivers which will make you completely comfortable to discover Cambodia.

Motorbike

Pay no more than USD 1 per destination within the city, travelling by motorbike can be considered as cheapest way of travelling. However, you should make sure that your motor drivers able of speaking English to know exactly where you want to go and remember to bargain before you get on the motorbike. Overall, travelling by motorbike will bring you a lot of fun and have real experience of local people’s lives.

Tuk-tuk

Tuk-tuk is another popular means of transport in Cambodia. It can take you anywhere in town with standard rate of USD 2 for short distances only. If you want to hire a tuk-tuk for a day tour, they also offer tour package with price approximately USD 15 for a half day tour. Travelling around the town with price cheap, talking to friend local, gaining additional information about the city is the advantage of moving by tuk-tuk.

Cyclo

A cheap and typical way to move around Phnom Penh is by cyclo. They cost slightly more than motorbike but more fantastic, as you can go slowly among the crowded streets and enjoy your sightseeing.

 Boat

Cambodia is endowed with a system of rivers which facilitate waterway. Travelling on Tonle Sap, Bassac and Mekong River by boats is a great choice to enjoy overwhelmingly beautiful landscape along the river.
